A
number of commissions have now been completed using pure iron. As
soon as we have more to show you we will add them to this page. All
contributions are welcome.
Repousse Leaf
The original wrought
iron leaf on the left is part of a panel restored for the National
Trust. All damaged or missing leaves were replaced using 1mm pure
iron sheet which was laser cut to provide the correct profile and then
carefully hammered without heat to achieve the correct three-dimensional
shape. This is known as repousse work.
Phoenix
Weather Vane
Pure iron was used
to produce this mediaeval looking weather vane by Michael E Roberts FWCB.
All the iron was hot worked. The phoenix is now installed 45 feet up
on the oldest dwelling in Worcestershire, a house dating from 1320.
Haley
Hill, Halifax
This gilded, pure
iron screen provides a decorative solution to the security problems
faced by a historically important redundant church near Halifax.
The commission was
carried out by Don Barker Ltd.
